my new $200 computer. i already love it.

wow, today was a day of great gifts. my parents' new imac arrived at their house. their old one was seven years old now. and they just recently got their dsl finally figured out, so how could i not get them the imac. my father and i installed leopard (the mac came with tiger and leopard discs.)
in just a few hours my parents were looking at my apartment while sitting at home. i carried them around, showing them a live view of the surroundings. wireless, global, live transmission. so very 2007.
i was then able to fix some things on my father's screen, by just logging in via ichat. i have done this many times in the past using timbuktu in office environments, but this experience was very different. the screen was nicely scaled for me, and it was my dad's machine. oh, and we were able to still chat, i mean talk with each other while i was adjusting his energy savings control panel. awesome.

i just picked up my mail and a huge box of gingerbread arrived from germany. my parents do these things once a year. i have not dared to open the huge boxes yet. maybe later today.

but the cool package of the evening was definitely that rather small box from some electronics company, made in china... inside a little friend. a green computer. one of the $200 computers. such a sweet little buddy. the skin a little bubbly, the screen all rugged, with green ears. the keyboard a joke, but somehow cute.
i was able to connect to the network rather easily, and now i am typing this on the little $200 computer.
i am not using the green keyboard, just my old apple keyboard. i just stuck it into one of the usb ports. it just worked. i turned the screen around so the laptop looks like a nice little computer.
i do not have a mouse with a wire in the house...
but wow, i am writing on my vox blog with this little buddy.
so cool.
i even found an sd card slot on it. will now try to find the photos on that card.

such a fun little computer. so happy looking.

Alterations

Amy Cutler's first exhibition in Europe is yet another tour de force of this New York artist. Her most ambitious project to date is a drawing turned sculpture, is a sculpture grown from hundreds smaller sculptures of women, each one individual and unique and yet connected, physically and by more subtle references anchored in Cutler's world.

Happy Earth Day! What are some of your favorite ways to reduce, reuse and recycle?

The electricity in my home is from 100% WIND power. (Your local energy provider might offer a similar option.)
I do not own a car, take public transport only. For shorter trips, a kick scooter.
(Just recently, so maybe this does not count.)
I reduced my meat consumption by maybe 80% or so...
trying to eat local food...
hmm...
maybe I am not doing enough.
hmm...

hmm... those who would like to know more about the back story of the drawings, might want to look at some older entries here. Actually here... would be a good start?... hmm...

cold toes

even though i have been inside for a good hour again, the cold just stuck to my feet and does not want to let go. what can i do? there is no way for me to soak my feet in hot water here at the office.

i will need to use the power of imagination.

oh, dangerous fiery thoughts.

Wiitek (ouch)

not only am i coming down with a cold, i think, i can barely move my arms. i played wii sports for a bit yesterday morning and today the pain is just pretty serious. i guess it is a good sign. i guess it was about time for me to move those crackling bones a bit.
i am sort of okay at tennis. i am really bad at everything else.
i guess i suck at tennis too.

the wii is a rather joyful system really. it is just fun to play with it.
i like it very much.
also downloaded the original donkey kong, just to see if i am still as bad at it as i was in 1986. (and i am.)
then downloaded mario 64 to see the same. (i still suck at it.)

i guess i will play a bit more tonight.
i will probably just end up with bruised/blue shoulders... oh, and the name of the console is Wiitek.
oh boy.

yes, for a while i used to be the #1 witold on google. my site has some 4000 or so pages and i guess that helped.
google recently banned my entire site, so i am no longer #anything there. it actually felt very liberating when i found out. i guess for the same reason i like vox so much. it allows me to be more intimate with that posting thing... (as i make this entry public.)
